“A good teacher is like a candle - it consumes itself to light the way for others.”

My name is Ee Wen Ting. I am an ESL teacher.
I was born and raised in Malaysia until I finished high school. I went to Hawaii where I further my studies at Brigham Young University Hawaii. There, I graduated with a BA in English.
My first English teaching experience came after I graduated from Brigham Young University-Hawaii. My high school principal offered me a position at the school where I taught English to 13 and 14 year-olds as an adjunct English teacher. I taught there for a year and it was one of the most educating year of my life. I came to love teaching English and helping the students become more confident English users in their lives.
I am currently a student at Brigham Young University Provo, pursuing my Master's degree in TESOL. Apart from learning the theories and methods of teaching, I am teaching as a part-time teacher at the English Learning Center (ELC), a BYU English teaching lab school in Provo. Having hands-on practice on the teaching methods that I learned from my classes has given me great and invaluable experiences that I will surely utilize in my future classes.
I am also a part-time ESL tutor at the ELC, tutoring all aspects of English, from pronunciation to academic writing. I tutor an average of 8 students everyday. Being a tutor gives me an insight into one-on-one teaching that is so different from teaching a class.
I have taught ESL and EFL in Utah and Malaysia and students from all over the world.
